LGBTQ+ & GSRD-affirmative supervision

Supervision where you don't have to explain yourself first

Reflect Together is home to a growing community of LGBTQ+, trans, non-binary and GSRD practitioners — with dedicated affirmative peer circles and supervisor-led groups. Here, your identity and your clients' identities are already understood, so the conversation starts with the clinical work, not the glossary.

Why affirmative supervision matters

No translating yourself

You shouldn't have to explain pronouns, coming-out dynamics or consensual non-monogamy before you can reflect on the actual clinical work.

Your clients' identities are understood

When your clients are queer, trans or GSRD, an affirmative group reads the material with the nuance it deserves — not as a curiosity.

Space for your own identity

Being an LGBTQ+ practitioner brings its own material into the room. A community that gets it gives you somewhere to bring that, too.

Less isolated practice

Affirmative practitioners are often thinly spread. A standing circle gives you colleagues who come to know your work over time.

What you can do here

  1. 1

    Join a peer circle

Small online groups of practitioners who meet to reflect on their client work together. Always free.

  2. 2

    Start your own circle

Set the focus, size and cadence — for example an LGBTQ+ practitioner circle, or one centred on GSRD client work.

  3. 3

    Find an affirmative supervisor

Browse supervisor-led groups, or post a private request for 1:1 or group supervision and receive offers from supervisors who match your practice.

For supervisors

If you supervise affirmatively, you're warmly invited to list your 1:1 or group spaces and connect directly with practitioners seeking affirmative supervision. Your first four supervisees are free, with no commission. Read more for supervisors.

Common questions

What is LGBTQ+ and GSRD-affirmative supervision?

GSRD-affirmative supervision is reflective practice with peers or supervisors who already understand gender, sexual and relationship diversity — so you never have to educate your supervisor on terminology, identities or relationship structures before you can talk about your client work.

Is Reflect Together only for LGBTQ+ therapists?

No. Reflect Together is open to all counsellors and psychotherapists. Within it, LGBTQ+, trans, non-binary and GSRD practitioners can find peers and supervisors who share an affirmative frame, in dedicated circles and groups.

Do affirmative peer circles cost anything?

No. Peer circles are always free — browsing, joining and starting one. Supervisor-led groups are listed by supervisors, who set their own fees.

I'm a supervisor who works affirmatively. Can I list my spaces?

Yes. Supervisors are warmly invited to list 1:1 or group supervision spaces and connect directly with practitioners seeking affirmative supervision. Your first four supervisees are free, with no commission.
