Peer supervision

Peer supervision for counsellors and psychotherapists

Reflect Together helps practitioners find colleagues for online peer supervision. On the platform, peer supervision happens in peer circles — small groups of practitioners who meet to reflect on their client work together, matched on modality, the clients you work with and when you can meet. Peer circles are always free.

What peer supervision is

Peer supervision is reflective practice between practitioners of broadly similar experience, without a paid facilitator. Each member brings cases, and the group offers perspective, challenge and support. It sits alongside supervision with a qualified supervisor rather than replacing it — whether it counts towards required hours depends on your professional body.

How peer circles work

  1. 1

    Create your profile

Tell us your modality, the clients you work with and when you can meet. That is what matching is built on.

  2. 2

Find or start a peer circle

Browse open circles suggested for your practice, or start your own and set its size, cadence and focus.

  3. 3

    Members choose each other

Every existing member approves a new joiner, so the group is one its members chose rather than one they were assigned to.

  4. 4

    Meet and reflect

Once there are two members, a private chat opens so you can agree a time and how you'd like to work together.

Why practitioners choose peer supervision

Perspectives from other modalities

Hearing how a person-centred, psychodynamic or CBT colleague reads the same material often surfaces what you hadn't seen.

No facilitator fee

Peer supervision doesn't need a paid supervisor, and peer circles on Reflect Together are free.

Less isolated practice

Private and online work can be lonely. A standing circle gives you colleagues who come to know your work over time.

Learning from others' cases

Much of the value comes from cases that aren't yours — how peers contract, hold risk and work with rupture and repair.

Looking for a supervisor too?

Alongside peer circles, you can join a supervisor-led group or post a private request for 1-to-1 or group supervision. Read about group supervision.

Common questions

What is peer supervision?

Peer supervision is when practitioners of broadly similar experience meet to reflect on their client work together, without a paid facilitator. Each person brings cases, and the group offers perspective, challenge and support.

How does peer supervision work on Reflect Together?

Peer supervision happens in peer circles: small online groups that members start or join. Every existing member approves a new joiner, chat opens once there are two members, and the organiser closes the circle when it is ready to run.

Does peer supervision cost anything?

No. Peer circles are always free for counsellors and psychotherapists — browsing, joining and starting one.

Does peer supervision count towards my required supervision hours?

That depends on your professional body. Some accept peer supervision alongside supervision with a qualified supervisor, others do not. Check your own body's current policy before relying on it.
